Alto Rosé 2026
Crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by other noble red varieties, this rosé showcases the remarkable versatility of Alto's vineyards. The result is an elegant and distinctive wine that reflects both freshness and finesse while remaining true to Alto's enduring character.
Our Rosé is fresh and dry with pink grapefruit, summer melon, cherry and a touch of citrus. The palate is well-rounded with crisp acidity and a hint of minerality.
Vinification
The Grapes were whole-bunch pressed straight after harvest and juice extraction started immediately. Grapes were pressed to 550L per ton and cold settled. Racking off the settling lees took place after 36 hours. The juice was inoculated with yeast that enhances the natural flavours in our grapes. Fermentation took 21 days at low temperatures of 12-14 degrees Celsius. After fermentation the wine was left on the gross lees in stainless-steel tanks for 3 months before 1 racking was done. Light filtration before bottling in July 2026.
Viticulture
All vineyards are North-facing and are situated on the lower slopes of the Helderberg Mountain. The grapes were harvested in the early morning to preserve the natural freshness.
