We are excited to announce that our estate will be open until mid-January 2025, for those that are not aware, we will be under going extensive renovations at Alto until 2027 and will temporarily be relocating to our sister farm, Bontehoek (formerly Bilton) in early 2025, where we will establish a pop-up tasting room and restaurant.

We are very excited about the future plans for our beautiful estate but are even more excited that we will be open for the remainder of 2024 and start of 2025.

Tasting Room Experiences

Our tasting room has a range of wine tasting experiences to choose from including our smoked cheese and wine pairing, biltong and wine pairing and our new summer canapé and wine pairing.

Our smoked cheese and wine pairing includes our Alto Rouge paired with a nettle infused cheddar, Shiraz with a black pepper cheddar, our award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon with a traditional Boerenkaas and the Estate Blend with a mature cheddar. All of the cheeses are cold smoked and have a subtle smoky flavour, the pairing is R160.00 per person.

Our biltong and wine pairing includes our Alto Rouge paired with a barbeque biltong, Shiraz paired with a smoky biltong, our Cabernet Sauvignon paired with a salty biltong and to end off our Flagship Estate Blend paired with a parmesan and truffle flavoured biltong. The pairing is R160.00 per person.

Our new Summer Canapé & wine pairing celebrates our chef’s Italian influence with a fresh, alfresco selection of canapes paired with four of our wines. 

To start, enjoy our Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé paired with a melon, prosciutto, basil and bocconcini skewer drizzled with a balsamic glaze, next is our iconic 100th vintage of Alto Rouge paired with seared beef, caramelized onion and rosa tomato served on a bruschetta. The third pairing is a favourite with our Shiraz 2019 paired with a pulled lamb shoulder Raviolo served with sundried tomatoes, olives and crispy capers. To end, enjoy our award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 paired with a biltong & parmesan Arancini ball served with truffle aioli.

This pairing is R225.00 per person and is only available from Friday to Sunday during tasting room hours, 24-hour notice booking is required.

All of our tasting options can be accompanied by our cheese, charcuterie, Anti-pasto or vineyard platter.

We are excited to announce that our summer menu is now available in our restaurant.

We have bought back a few favourites from last season including our grilled Patagonian squid, black mushroom arancini balls starter and refreshing Caesar salad, of which all pair perfectly with our Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé 2024.

We also have two new additions to the menu, a delicious seared venison loin wrapped in prosciutto and sage with cauliflower truffle puree, baby beetroot & carrots, mustard fine beans & blueberry port jus, as well as an exciting new textures of berry dessert that is a must try! 

Our restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and for dinner every Wednesday evening, keep an eye on our social media for our upcoming Wednesday night specials.

Sunset Rouge

Sunset at our estate is truly a magical experience. The views are phenomenal and paired with our award-winning wines, delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere, our sundowner evenings are the perfect way to end off your week.

Join us for a glass or two of our wines, a special limited menu from our restaurant, views that will take your breath away and live music by local musicians.

Christmas at Alto

We are excited to be offering an all-new experience at our estate this December.

Join us for a memorable 4-course family dining Christmas lunch experience on the 24th December 2024.

Enjoy a curated selection of dishes to share among the table including an artisanal bread board, rare roast beef and gnocchi Romano to start, followed by rolled lamb shoulder, smoked pork belly and seared rainbow trout served with a selection of sides. To end, choose between 2 options of delectable desserts. Our Christmas lunch menu is R695.00 per person, bookings are essential.

Our estate will be closed on the 25th December 2024 as well as the 1st January 2025. We look forward to celebrating our last season our estate with you!
